The community is the backbone and, in many ways, the beneficiary of our shelter operations. If you manage a business, lead a youth group, or are influential in other organizations, please consider partnering with HSLC to increase awareness and support of our mission. There are many ways we can work together that will benefit your business, motivate your customers, build community involvement, and generate donations for our homeless pets.

Here are just a few examples and ideas for ways you can successfully partner with the HSLC. Lets get creative!

Donate Money, Goods, or Services Directly to HSLC

  • Pet Supplies Plus of Howell, Brighton, and Milford
Pet Supplies Plus has provided invaluable support and partnered with us in many ways over the years from showing our pets at their store before we had a shelter to their generous donations and sponsorship of many of our events including our annual golf outing. Their contributions are recognized and appreciated in so many ways!

Set up An Ongoing "Give Back" Program

  • The Humane Society of Livingston County is a participant in Todd's Services Give Back to the Community Program. If you hire Todd's Services for landscaping or purchase landscape products, you can designate the HSLC to receive a generous 1% donation (up to $50) from every job! To date, the HSLC has received over $15,000! Contact Todd's Services: (810) 231-2778 or visit their web site: www.toddsservices.com.
  • HSLC is a participant in VG's Community Share Fund. When you donate your VG's receipts, HSLC receives a 1% cash rebate on your total grocery purchase (excluding taxes, tobacco and alcohol products.) You may drop off or mail your receipts to the HSLC shelter at 2464 Dorr Road, Howell, MI 48843.

Sponsor A Fundraising Event

  • Host a special event at your place of business or other suitable site and give your employees or members of your organization an extra incentive by inviting friends and family to attend the event. Offer activities that support both your mission and that of the Humane Society such as raffles, games for the kids, and friendly competitions. We can help promote your event, set up a donation site, offer humane educational materials, and maybe even bring a few adorable, adoptable visitors to your event!

  • Elder Beerman sponsors periodic "Community Day" events for non-profit organizations in the Livingston County area to sell Coupon Books for a special, scheduled shopping day at their store. The charity not only keeps the proceeds from the books they sell, but also receives a portion of the books sold by "in store" Elder Beerman associates during the event. By making a small donation to the charity for the coupon book, customers can save more money when they shop at Elder Beerman.

  • HSLC participates in periodic Charity Poker & Black Jack Events sponsored by The Shark Club in Howell. HSLC volunteers are required (by Michigan law) to help with the event and collect a portion of the proceeds. Learn More>>

  • Or Learn More about how you can support one of our HSLC Fundraising Events:

    • Donate goods or services for "live" or "silent" auctions and raffles at the annual HSLC Fur Ball.
    • Sponsor a Golf Hole or contest at our annual HSLC Golf Outing.
    • Sponsor a seasonal event to bring people & their pets together such as "Photos with Santa."

Support An Animal Care or Adoption Event

  • Atta' Boy Dog Training has partnered with HSLC to consult with staff and work with our animals to help improve the opportunities for successful adoptions.

  • Pawsitively Spoiled is sponsoring adoptions of HSLC pets at their location in Brighton. Learn More>>

  • Pet Supplies Plus is sponsoring adoptions of HSLC pets at their locations in Brighton & Howell. Learn More>>

  • PetX Supplies & Tack is partnering with HSLC to offer vaccine & micro-chip clinics at their store in Howell. Learn More>>

Sponsor HSLC Communications & Public Awareness

  • WHMI Radio (93.5 FM) supports the HSLC with a weekly program, Pet Patrol, to spotlight our adoptable pets, pet care tips, fundraising events, and more. Pet Patrol is part of the WHMI Viewpoint program broadcast on Sunday mornings at 8:30 am. You can replay recent Viewpoint programs on the WHMI web site. Learn More>>

  • Comcast Cable broadcasts a regular program, "Pets on Demand," to promote local pet adoptions plus news and information that supports the mission of the HSLC. The Comcast crew visits the HSLC shelter to film our adoptable animals on a regular basis. If you have digital Comcast cable, you can view HSLC pets on "Pets on Demand". Check your local cable listings for details.
