Below are Happy Tails from people who helped save the lives of some great pets. Did you also adopt your forever friend from our shelter? If so, we'd also love to hear an update from you (or your pet!) Email us your story (250 words or less) to Sarah@humane-livingston.org along with a digital photo and it could be published here on our website to share with others!
Buddie and Piper a.k.a. Thomas and Dee-dee
Yesterday we got a phone call from the Livingston County Humane Society, asking for an update on the two kitties we adopted on January 2, 2010. They are a brother and sister, who are very happy to be together. The names you called them were Thomas and Dee-dee, but we changed their names to Buddie and Piper. They have the run of the house during the day, but I believe that they spend most of the day sleeping, so that they can romp around all night! Although they are brother and sister, they clearly have different demeanors and unique personalities. He is going to be a big cat and is already almost twice as big as his little sister. He is very loveable and purrs loud and often. She is a pistol, thus the name Hyper Piper. She sneaks up on him and tries to tackle him and the two of them will tear around the house. In the quiet times they curl up together and sleep, or groo m each other. We are very happy to have Buddie and Piper as additions to our family, and I think that they are very happy to be together in a home and not a cage. I have attached a couple of pictures of the two of them. You will notice that they both have grown a lot in a couple of months. Thank you for bringing Buddie and Piper into our lives.

Jubilee ak.a. Toffee
Last night, my husband answered the phone and found someone from the Humane Society on the other end. Being a man of few words, he quickly answered that our adopted kitty is working out but I accepted the telephone call as invitation to rave about our little girl. "Toffee” has been renamed “Jubilee” in honour of the fact that she was born on July 4 th and as a nod to the X-Men, my boys' favorite cartoon.
She is AWESOME. Ju-Ju is an awful lot like a puppy. In the morning, I spend the first hour of every day making breakfasts, lunches and throwing her toy bird. She seriously retrieves for the better part of that hour. At night, when I am reading, she brings her bird or mouse and drops it in my book. Its just so darn funny. Well, funny for the first 20 times! My oldest son, Aidan, even bought her some new toys with his own birthday money. He bought her a fishing pole with a mouse on it. Of course, her claws sliced the mouse off but she LOVES that mouse. It goes all over the house with her.
She is blossoming physically as well. I have no idea what her history is but I am guessing that she spent the bulk of her 6 month life in that cage. She couldn't jump up on the bed. She couldn't make it on the 3.5 foot counter BUT I noticed just last night that she can and does jump directly onto our bed now.
She eats like a horse and only the best of foods so we' ve seen her coat gain luster and it's downright velvety now. She has even started using her little meow. When we got her, all she did was purr and we were beginning to wonder if she had a voice at all. Like all kittens, it's the sweetest little sound.
WE LOVE THIS LITTLE GIRL.
But we still think about Yul. Hope he gets adopted before we cave and take him.

Barney a.k.a. Radar
A few weeks ago I adopted an adorable long haired Chihuahua named Radar from HSLC. He had kidney stones that needed to be fixed surgically, and is on special food. I just wanted to let you guys know that he is doing wonderfully. I call him Barney because there is already a dog named Radar in the family. Barney is sweet and loving, and calm enough that most days he can come to the office with me. He has a goofy, sweet, spunky personality, and wants to spend every possible moment in my lap. He has only been with me for a few weeks, and already I can't imagine not having him around. He is getting a little spoiled, and already has several of the cutest sweaters I have ever seen. I just wanted to say thanks for taking such good care of him. If you could please let your veterinarian know that he is doing well and happy, and thank her for all the work she did as well I would be grateful. He is a special little guy and I am glad that you were able to provide the medical care that helped him get healthy enough to come home to me.

Chance
Hi, I just wanted to send a quick note to thank everyone at the shelter for all of their help and support in adopting Chance (aka "black" Chance). As I type this he and his new "brother" are curled up with the cat
sleeping soundly on the bed. I have no doubt that the work that Kyle specifically, but all of the staff and
volunteers put into Chance have prepared him for this moment in his life, but I am still amazed at how quickly he is adjusting to his new life. He has not been without his quirks... It took him almost a week and a half, but he did chew a collar off Gryphon , his Boxer brother (as he had done with Bernice at the shelter) and as he gets more comfortable in the house, he's taking more liberties and is being more stubborn about getting down off things, or letting go of things he wants, but these are all things that
you get when you adopt a bully breed in general. The biggest reason I am writing is to reiterate how thankful I am for the help and support I received throughout this whole process. Without the ability to introduce Gryphon and Chance, and allow them to slowly get acquainted I doubt that this process would have gone as well as it has. For that I am ever thankful. Gryphon is having to adjust to life with "shared love" again, but he enjoys it and I'm thankful for him to have a playmate in Chance. Attached are a few photos from his first week or so with us :)
Thanks again!
Toby S and Jeff A, proud parents of Gryphon ( Boxer rescue )
and Chance (APBT mix rescue)

My wife and I wanted you all to know that "Sasha" is happy and healthy living with us. We got her from the shelter 2 years ago (one of the rescue dog)....she is a great part of our family and frankly she runs the house now.

The Peterson 5: Diesel, Cupcake, Ladybug, Oreo, & Jovi
Dear HSLC,
We have adopted 5 cats since my daughter and I have started volunteering at the HSLC. We absolutely love all of them! They are such a wonderful addition to our family (we have an 18 year old cat and a Corgi dog too). On April 11, 2009 we adopted Diesel as a birthday present for our daughter when she turned 8. He is such a mellow and laid back cat.. Then on June 23rd we adopted Cupcake. Soon her and Diesel became buddies. Then on July 4th we adopted Ladybug, she is my special kitty. She loves to sit with me while I work on the computer or watch TV. At this point I thought our "furry" family was complete. That was until I saw Oreo on Nov 5th while volunteering and knew he had to be a part of our family. He is so funny and playful with a lot of energy! But who can have an odd number of cats? When I saw Jovi with his sweet face and cute "meow" my heart melted. I left work early after making the decision to adopt "just one more cat" and went straight to the HSLC and brought him home. Needless to say, as a kitten he has gotten into his fair share of trouble (and that was just the first night!). He is such a sweetheart and will let my daughter carry him around on her shoulder. Thank you so much for all the care and love you give these animals while they are at your shelter! Having worked with all the staff, I am grateful for all of their hard work and dedication to these animals. Again, THANK YOU!
Sincerely, Beth & Abigail Peterson
Pudge
First of all, thank you for letting me adopt Pudge. He is clearly a perfect dog and a perfect match for me & my family. Although he whined a bit on the trip from HSLC to his new Ann Arbor home (probably because he missed you guys), he adjusted to his new home quickly. He soon learned that couches & chairs make fine beds (as do beds), picture windows are designed for watching outside activities & squirrels, and greeting visitors at the door with a spunky bark & tail wag is the proper thing to do.
Pudge has been adopted into a large extended canine family & has been warmly greeted by all. These new cousins include Betty, Butch, Goochee & Bobo, Min Pins, Taco, Lincoln, Barbie, & Lacey. It turns out he does like to play with his cat cousins (Chaps & Tex) too, but only if he can do the chasing. When they chase him he jumps on the closest human lap.
Pudge has had no “accidents” in the house & got the hang of dashing from the back door through the gate to the fenced yard after the first day. A very smart fellow! I continue to feed him the Hill's Science Diet 2/D you provided with some homemade D/D mixed in which he loves, loves, loves. His new vet suggested a regimen of venison or ostrich or emu meat, and then gradually adding other foods to determine whether food allergies are what cause his itching.
Thanks for all the info and care you gave Pudge. And don't even think about asking for him back!

Mei Li
Just a quick note and few pictures of our Mei Li. We were blessed the day our brother Greg brought us up to see you. We were looking for a small dog and as we all know they are far and few at animal shelters. But, the “Pet Gods” were looking down on us that day. Mei Li has been an absolute delight from the moment we walked out of your facility. I just wanted you to see how well she has adapted to her new home.
She loves to go for a ride in the car and on the golf cart. In the car she starts out on the console then either goes to the back seat where she has an elevated seat to allow her to look out the window or sits in Gail's lap. She has been to the “Pet Salon” twice (once every 6 weeks) to keep her ears healthy. She loves everybody and everybody adores her! Just know that she is in a home where she gets nothing but love and attention. If she wasn't spoiled before, she definitely is now!

Wesley
Wesley is wonderful! He has settled in great. Gets along with our other chihuahua "Papi" really well. Wesley has perfect manners and is just a love. He and Papi are playing and getting along fine. We love him dearly and want to thank you again for the opportunity to make him part of our family. I have attached some Christmas pictures with Papi and Wesley, being held, of course!
Best Regards,
LaDean Rose
Buddy and Sugar
It is hard to believe that it has already been about a month since Buddy (aka Brownie) and Sugar c ame to live
w ith us (late Nov 2009!) They are the sweetest, happiest, best friends we have ever seen and we're so glad that we were able to keep them together. They have mastered the stairways and the doggy door and are about 90% there with the potty training. They love to cuddle with us, wrestle and chase each other, and go for walks. They sure make us laugh! Especially when we saw that they like to sleep on their backs with their bellies to the sky…how cute is that!?!? Everyone who meets them falls in love instantly and we are so happy to be able to give them the home that they deserve.
Thank you so much for our new sweeties!
Julie
Darla

Darla is our “accidental angel” that we came across this summer while taking our other angel “Timmy the cat” for a hairdo at PetSupplies in Brighton . Despite having other pets in the home (a dog, another cat & a lovebird) and after losing our original angel, “Buddy the lab”, our dream was getting Blackie a pal someday who lived by the rules: don't eat the bird or the cats or pick on our new puppy Blackie, who came day one after “Buddy” went to heaven.
We felt this was the luckiest day of our lives. The gal was so kind in letting all the customers play with the pups. Tim and I just sat back, admired and observed. During this brief encounter we got the courage to sign up for an application for adoption, since we felt Darla would fill the criteria for our home if nobody else adopted her.
I am writing because I was one of those people who didn't really know how to go about adopting a pet before. So with the adoption helper's great attitude at this store, I thought to myself, “I want to be like her one day and help more as a volunteer” and I got the confidence to fill out the application. We never got to personally thank her so I hope she reads this note. As our family is forever grateful and our angels can't imagine a day without their new sister! She has helped us all shine truly.

Cleo Patra
A few years ago, we adopted a two year old cat (named Mallory) from the shelter. She was there for almost a full year and it was said that she got into a fight with another cat, but she just must have been having a bad day because once we got her home, she didn't act like a violent cat whatsoever! Her name is now Cleo Patra and if you didn't know any better, you'd think she was a dog! When you call her name, she comes running and she'll sit right on your lap. She gets along very well with the other cat and two dogs in the house and she's never shown any sign of violence. She's very talkative (Meow meow meow) and has made a perfect addition to the family. She's also a life savor! Once, some pipe broke in our basement and Cleo noticed that water was flooding the carpet. Well, she came upstairs and wouldn't leave us alone until we finally followed her down there and saw what was happening. Life just wouldn't be the same without Cleo! To this day, Cleo is still the most loving and wonderful cat!
Carter
Recently I made the decision to have my cat put to sleep. It was,
as most animal lovers know, one of the hardest things I have had to do. After having a seizure and losing control of his bladder, I took him to the vet and found he was in serious
kidney failure.
The vet told me that I could give him fluid therapy at home and
there were other medications I could try but I could not do that to
him. I knew that he would not want any
of that. Thursday evening my mom came with me to take Tyler to the vet
and we said our goodbyes.
I knew that getting another cat was a must. I went
onto Petfinder and looked around. I went to a shelter at lunch but was
completely overwhelmed. This shelter had over two hundred cats up for
adoption. I looked at Petfinder again
and found a cat at the Humane Society of Livingston County. This
time I went straight to the one that I had seen on the website. His
name was Drew. I was hoping to find a cat that was around three years old
or a little younger. When she told me that he was six years old and had
been there since May I could not believe it. He is beautiful inside and
out and the perfect match for me. I know
that this sounds corny but I really beli eve that Tyler was with me the
whole time and knew that Carter (formally Drew) would be just the one.
He has such a friendly and loving disposition and is so
excited when I get home from work. I know in my heart that Tyler was grateful that I was able to let him go and not allow him to suffer, and would want me to open my heart and give another a
loving home. I will always have a special place for
Tyler and I am still mourning his loss, but I am also so happy to have
room for another friend and I thank Tyler for knowing that Carter was
exactly what I needed. I would like to
say thank you to Petfinder for assisting in healing my broken heart and
giving a my beautiful boy a happy home.

Hope
We adopted Hope (aka Kelly) in mid-August. We decided to rename her "Hope" as my husband graduated from Hope College and we thought it was a fitting name for an adoptee. We LOVE Hope and she has added so much to our lives. She is laying at my feet as I write this :) From what we understand, she has spent much of her two years of life in a shelter or humane society, and it has been really fun seeing her explore all of the new things in her life. She is so excited about everything, it is a good reminder about all of the good things that we don't even think about. We would just like to thank you and Hope's foster family for all of the effort you put into saving her. She is such a wonderful, loving dog...She is an amazing addition to our family!

Annabelle
Hello, I wanted to send you an update and some pics of Annabelle. She's is doing so well here, just like she's always been a part of the family. She was pretty blue the first couple of weeks, but has overcome that and is very happy.. She's down to 101 lbs! We go on a 2 mile walk nearly every day, and if it's too warm, it's swimming. She gets along so well with all the dog cousins and is very people friendly. The only thing she doesn't care for here are my 2 Royal Palm turkeys, who like to peck at her feet and tail. I think she's trying to tell me she only likes turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy, thank you very much! So, thank you very much for Annabelle, I couldn't be more pleased and happy!
Bingo
I was adopted by my new family on Sunday, July 5, 2009. I have a new mommy, a 6-1/2 year old human sister, 3 parakeet bird brothers and in a brand new pug sister that my new mommy is going to foster indefinitely. She is 7-1/2. I am very, very happy in my new home. I get to play inside with my sisters and get lots of outside time for fresh air and potty breaks. My mommy crates me during the day so I don't mess up the house with accidents or from boredom. But I get a visit every day from a neighborhood teenager to go potty and play. She sometimes stays for a while if she uses the treadmill. At night I even get to sleep in my sister's room on the bed with her. It is so comfy and nice to cuddle up to a human when I sleep. But sometimes my mommy sneaks me out for a couple hours out after my sister falls asleep so we can watch tv together. I am so spoiled in my new home and I love it here. Thank you for taking good care of me when I was with you.
Max

Dear Sarah,
My family adopted Max, an English Springer Spaniel on June 27, 2008. He's been more fun than we could possibly have imagined!! His health is very good and all shots have been recently updated. Thanks for all of your assistance.

Winston
We recieved a call from you asking how Winston is doing. Well, we figured a picture is worth a thousand words. Here are some pictures of Winston... as you can see.. he's a rather happy.. allbeit relaxed puppy.
He's been a great addition to our family and is absolutely loving the yard and other animals. We couldn't be happier.
Baxter
Hi Sarah,
Well, this has been a big day for me. My new dad came to pick me up and we had a short drive to my new home. Boy, have I been busy....... First I had to check every room in the house from top to bottom, and then I went with my dad in the fenced yard to sniff every square inch of it. In fact I was so happy that I made snow angels on the grass. After that we went for a walk, and just got in before the storm. I was a little pooped, so we had a rest on the couch together. My dad tells me that I snore like an elephant, but I'm not if he's not just pulling my leg. I didn't hear any snoring! Then it was my favourite time of the day, FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDD!!! My new mom called many times to know how I was doing and she will be coming very soon, as she cant wait to see me. I'm excited to meet her. Well, I got to go as I have still a bunch of places to check out. But before I do, I want to thank all the wonderful staff at the animal shelter that looked after me,loved me, and gave me a new chance in life. I love you all and there is a special place in my heart for everyone. I will keep you posted with my news and don't be surprised if one day I pay you a visit at the shelter.
Love, Baxter XXXXXX

Dixie
Hello there Sarah,
I thought I would let you know how our little one is doing-she is great! Here is a picture so you can use it for the sucessful adotions. She is getting along very good and we love her so much. She is our child since neither one of us can have childeren, so she is spoiled that is for sure.
Cocoa
Hi everyone!
It's Cocoa (you called me Cheyanne when I lived there). I can't believe I've been with my forever family for almost a year! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get in touch; I've been a busy girl. Things are going well and I've turned out to be the perfect fit for my new family. Oh, they had their concerns about me after they caught me on the kitchen counter helping myself to a cake during my first weekend with them, but we've all adjusted and I'm doing incredibly well. It took a lot of work and patience (from both me and my parents), but I now understand and follow the house rules, have learned basic commands and even know a few tricks! I make my parents laugh every day with my goofball personality (I'm very vocal and they tell me I have a great sense of timing with my "input" during their human conversations) and lovable wiggles. My older brother, Pudge (a three year old black lab mix) and I weren't too interested in each other for the first few weeks, but have become the best of friends and are inseparable. Our favorite things to do are cuddling, bike rides, morning runs, playing at doggy daycare, wrestling, car rides, chasing squirrels or any other unauthorized critters in our yard, "hunting" for frogs and fish in the pond and taking long naps on the deck during sunny afternoons. Thanks for taking such good care of me prior to my adoption. I'm a very loved little girl and my family can't imagine life without me!
Molly
Dear Ms. Mews,
I wanted to thank you and the staff of the Humane Society for taking care of Molly before I adopted her. Being a family whose dogs are all rescues, she is probably the sweetest little girl we've ever seen or owned, and we've had a few.
I was running some early morning Sunday errands, and had just tuned into WHMI for the news and weather. I heard your radio spot about Molly, and it started me thinking. I had to put down one of our rescue dogs this past January because of uncontrollable seizures, after having him only 10 months. He was such a good boy, and I felt somewhat cheated that the meds and therapy just couldn't help him. I needed time to let him pass, and had really no intention of getting another rescue for awhile (we have two already) until I heard about Molly. Sometimes the Good Lord just drops the right hint into your lap, which is why I came that week to check her out. Well, it was love at first sight. While some may consider her kind of homely, with that pronounced overbite of hers, we think she is absolutely gorgeous. All she wants to do is be loved on, taken for walks, played with (she LOVES to play fetch with balls and tug toys), and snuggle up to one of us when in a recliner or on the couch. She has such personality and has brought a real sense of happiness with her youthful playfulness after losing our other boy so soon.
Our other rescues are 12 and 8. She's already lost 2lbs of chubb with her steady stream of long walks with the pack. That someone else didn't get this wonderful animal before we did is their loss. Thank you again for all you do for these animals that nobody else seems to want. I couldn't do what you and your staff do. I'd want to take them all home.
Sincerely,
Dennis L Hopkins
P.S. She snores! (but not any worse than my bride!)
Snoop
Dear HSLC,
I wanted to share my success story of an amazing animal from your shelter.
I adopted Snoop, who was a 9 yr old Lhasa mix, in October after one visit to your shelter. He had been there for quite some time (I believe 6 months). He is doing AMAZING!!! I already had a 7 yr old Shih-tzu named Sampson at home who really needed a friend. Since bringing him home the two have been inseperable. They eat, sleep (in my bed) , play, and go to the bathroom together. He is very comical and everyone who meets him can't believe how funny he is. In the beginning we defintely had to get used to one another as he had brought some "quirks" from his previous life. I will still ocassionaly find him hiding in my kitchen cupboard looking for trash to eat...what a dog:) We take long walks every night and he has managed to shed a few pounds since being here with me in Livonia. I am truly thankful for being blessed with two wonderful pets and am amazed at how much joy one more has brought to my life. Once again, THANK YOU! Your shelters efforts do not go unrecognized!!
Chelsea
I just visited your site and thought I would tell you about my experience at your shelter. I spent about one year just looking at the dogs, when I finally found Chelsea. She had only been in your facility a little under a week, and I asked to take her out for a walk in the rain. At approximatly 10 years old, (according to your knowledge of her), she was well house broken, and took the lead right down the trail outside with me. I really don't know what clicked with us, but we went inside to your leather couch area, and spent more time together. When I said I want to adopt this dog you did a background check on me and after getting approval you brought her out with her new pink collar.
Chelsea has many names that I call her, and that's because she listens to everything I say, and the way I say it. She is a great watch dog over me, and that must be the shepherd in her. She even watches my pet chinchillas as they scoot around the house on their play time out. She won't hurt them, but she cries a lot while following them, only to look at me as if to say "MOM, they are right here, opps, right there, opps, MOM!" This dog has so much more I could tell you about that is so unique, that our story could almost be a book. I have grown to love her more each day, and thanks to you, I will enjoy every minute of it. Someone told me that shepherds only live to be around 10, but my vet said she didn't look 10. All I know is she has given so much to me already during a stressful year I have had, that I am blessed with this friend. Please keep up the good work, and thanks to everyone there at the Livingston Humane Society for caring. This was a Win-win.
Shelly and Chelsea
Samson
Hi Sarah!
We wanted to give you an update on Samson, our beloved Boxer boy that we adopted from HSLC last August. He is just the perfect dog for us and we feel he was meant to be ours all along. You even told me that if he was meant to be ours, he would be there when we came, and you were exactly right
Everyone he meets absolutely loves him, he can warm anyones heart. He loves his new home, from day one it was easy to see he knew he was home furever, as he just settled right in! He loves to run around in his fenced yard, play with his toys, go for walks, hang out with Daddy in the garage, and even go for car rides! He gets along well with other dogs and is very playful. There's a golden retriever that lives across the street and they have play dates! And he is such a cuddle bug, his very favorite thing of all is to lay and cuddle, or get belly rubs. He's such a big baby! He loves to lay on his "bed" (the living room love seat) and look out the window. It's so wonderful to come home every day and see his adorable face watching out the window for me. And as soon as I come in he jumps up and down and smothers me with kisses. He might be a little spoiled now, but deservedly so! He just has such a wonderful personality, he is so smart, easygoing, and very silly, he truly has all of the wonderful Boxer qualities. My 8 year old son absolutely adores him, he calls him his canine brother!
We just can't thank you enough for what you guys there did for him in his time of need, and for helping bring us together. Samson is such a blessing and brings so much joy to us. He has taught us a new meaning of unconditional love and loyalty and now I don't know what we ever did without him. Thank you for rescuing him, and taking care of him, until he came home to us!
Jill, Justin, Jeffrey, and Samson
Daisy Mae, Roscoe and Lil' Abner

Our three HSLC graduates, Daisy Mae (age 9) Roscoe (age 4) and Lil' Abner (age 10) lead very busy lives. To earn their keep, they eat, chase the kong, chase squirrels off the bird feeder, relax in front of the fireplace, chase the ball, wrestle a little, lie in the sun patch, move when the sun moves, bark hello to the neighbors' rescue dogs, supervise their humans' work, go for walks, splash at the waves in the lake, swim a while or play in the snow (not Abner - he hates water and cold), eat dinner, chew on a rawhide or a goliath bone, chase the ball again(!), then snuggle under the quilt on the couch for a nice evening cuddle before curling up for the night. As you can see, it's a good thing they are here to take care of things around here! We are lucky to have them - they bring us a lot of happiness. We would adopt again from HSLC in a heartbeat.
The Miller Family
Lily
I adopted Jewell whose name I changed to Lily. We both needed someone in that I had just gone through a divorce and she had been left in your capable hands when her owners were shipped overseas. She had been in your shelter for a number of months, about the same length of time I had been learning to deal with being on my own. She has brought such joy to my life and I thank my lucky stars that the Humane Society of Livingston County was there for her owners for without your organization, I do not think I would have found her.
Thank you for all you do and for giving people a place to find wonderful new friends!
Deb
Bowser
Thanks for finding me such a warm, cushy, cozy home! I've been here a year now and I've already got my human pets trained to spoil me just the way I like to be pampered.
Best Wishes, "Bowser"
Johnny
Writing to you folks to let you know how one of your cats is doing as a beloved member of my family. I adopted him last November.
Our family business is really struggling in these weird times and Johnny helps me keep my morale up. He is such a good pal. Intelligent and affectionate, with a musical maine coon style "chirruping" kind of voice, he has a lot of personality.
I am very grateful to you all for taking care of Johnny. I hear he was born there at your shelter, was returned there after being adopted once (why??), and then he ended up there a third!! time after he was abandoned and brought in by animal control! Poor little guy!
As you may recall I live quite a long way away in Ann Arbor, and I almost didn't drive to Howell to continue my search for "the kitty who was waiting for me somewhere"... Well I am glad I did.
Please take a look at our family business' website:http://www.neko-chan.com. I wish I could donate $$ but we don't have much cash. However, I *can* offer a 10% discount to any of you wonderful people who help animals every day. Bless you.
Lots of love and hope to the other cats. I hope you find homes for them!!
Best regards,
Dave
Chester

Chester has been such a good dog. With the help of an obedience class, he has come such a
long way in the month he's been home. He
sits and lays down with hand commands. We have learned that
the Gentle Leader is a wonderful invention if you have a dog
that pulls!
Chester also got his cast taken off a
couple of week ago and is doing well. He and Bass (my little beagle) are the best
of friends and does really good with the whole
family!
You will get to see him in person
soon. We are coming on Sunday for shots!
Thanks again and
have a good day!

Fozzie
Hi HSLC!
I adopted the sweetest pup I ever saw, Charlie at the HSLC. Although he is now known as Fozzie, I think you'd be happy to hear he is doing tremendously well. When adopted he was healing from a broken leg that had required surgery. Since recovering he's been running and jumping non-stop. I can't tell you how much it has meant to me that I was able to adopt him, I can't imagine my life without the little guy! We've joined a doggy play group and Fozzie brings laughs to everyone as he runs around begging to be chased by his friends. Whenever I hear about someone looking to adopt, I highly recommend HSLC for the great service I received and the loving care my Fozzie was given. I've included a few photos for you to share with those that helped take care of him! Thank you for all that you do.
Best Wishes,
Katie
Vivian
This is my little dog, Vivian adopted last April. She was known as Monique. We love her very much. She fits right into our family. The weekend after we adopted her we took her with us to the Rolex Horseshow in Kentucky. She is a very good traveler. Vivian goes to all the horseshows we do and never barks at the horses.
Vivian follows Tammy and Tootsie outside, they show her where to go, what to bark at, and teach her general good dog behavior. They do everything together. Vivie is very good at the dog groomer. It is as if she has always gone all her life. She holds very still while Sandy makes her cute and fluffy. As far as house breaking goes she is very good, not 100%, but very good. The terriers really helped her on this one because she just follows their lead.
Vivie is attached to her bed. She has a bed in the kitchen and a bed in our bedroom along with her sisters. Unlike the terriers, she is not afraid of weather, storms, wind, or lightning. She does not wake us panting and scratching our bed. Viv sleeps right through it!
I wanted to let you know how this little dog's story turned out, hers was a happy ending.
