The many homeless animals that enter the shelter every year are given a new chance to find their forever home because of donations and the willingness of individuals to volunteer for the Humane Society. Your financial and volunteer support allow us to provide direct care for over 1,000 animals each year plus help hundreds more throughout the community.

Your Donations Make a Difference!

The Humane Society of Livingston County is a private, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization which means all donations are tax deductible. We do not receive government funding and are not affiliated with any other animal shelter or humane society for financial support. We rely on the generosity of people like you to continue our mission to support the responsible care of every animal in our community.  Donations help provide the essentials for our day-to-day operations as well as required medical procedures and veterinary care. By making a donation, you are helping to keep the animals in our care warm, safe and well as we work to find them a loving home. Every donation, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated!

Establish your own Planned Giving Program

You can find comfort in saving lives and helping homeless animals while leaving a lasting legacy when you establish a personal, planned giving program. There are many ways to give that could also offer financial benefits including tax reduction or even lifetime income from a gift. For example, you can name the Humane Society of Livingston County in your estate when planning your will or trust. You can donate or transfer ownership of stocks, bonds, or other assets to HSLC. You could make an investment like a Charitable Gift Annuity or designate HSLC as the beneficiary for a life insurance policy. Please consult with your financial advisor for the methods of giving that are most appropriate for you.

No matter what you decide, we are very grateful you have considered doing something special for the Humane Society of Livingston County. Remember, no gift is "too small" -- even a modest investment or contribution can provide a steady income to pay for daily operations or special projects. If you have questions about finding ways to help our animals in need, please contact Barb Benford by phone: 517-552-8050, ext. 12 or email: barb@humane-livingston.org.
