Volunteer Help Needed
We could not offer the many programs and services to help homeless pets without our many wonderful volunteers!
There are always plenty of opportunities for volunteers. Listed below are just a few areas where we currently need help.
All volunteers must attend an orientation session prior to beginning volunteer work. If you are not already a registered HSLC volunteer, please refer to our Volunteer Guidelines for more information and contact Barb Benford (barb@humane-livingston.org) to sign up for the next available orientation session.
If you have already attended one of our Volunteer Orientation sessions and are interested in learning more about current opportunities, please call the shelter during business hours or contact our Volunteer Coordinator (volunteercoord@humane-livingston.org) by email.
Thank you! |
Event Volunteers
We have many events throughout the year and always need volunteers to help in a variety of ways. Typically, volunteers are needed to help with marketing, fundraising, and general public awareness of our programs and services. For off-site adoption events, we often need help transporting, handling, and caring for our animals. Additional training may be required depending on the type of event and experience level of the volunteer.
Our next upcoming event is: Fur Ball on March 24, 2012
If you are interested in helping at future events, please email our Volunteer Coordinator.

Campaign for Cats: "Advo-CATS" Team
We have formed a new group of volunteers who are PASSIONATE about helping our adoptable cats! Our initial focus is to learn and share ideas on how we can:

- enhance the health and well being of our adoptable cats while they are at the shelter and help them find purr-manent homes
Meetings will be scheduled at the shelter as needed to work together, but there are many ways you can help based on your personal interest and schedule. If you are already a registered HSLC volunteer and willing to be an advocate for our adoptable cats, please contact us!

"Greeters"

Greeters are a first point of contact with visitors to the shelter. They play an important role in creating a warm, friendly, welcoming first impression. As a Volunteer Greeter at the HSLC, you would provide assistance to visitors by answering basic questions, guiding them through the shelter, and helping to showcase our dogs and cats with potential adopters. This volunteer position is intended to support our staff during our typical busiest times and is scheduled in flexible, two hour shifts. Interested persons should have at least 20 hours of volunteer experience with the shelter, enjoy talking with the public, and have strong interpersonal skills. We will provide special training for this position and request a minimum committment of three months.
