Deborah Oberle, President

President for nine years.  Treasurer for two years prior and a fostering volunteer since 1991. She has a B.A. from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from Eastern Michigan University. She was a national account manager for Hill's Pet Nutrition and currently owns a local Golf Consulting business. Debbie is a life long resident of Livingston County.

John Hulyk, Vice President
Elected to the Board in June of 2004.  John works in finance for Brighton Commerce Bank of Brighton, Michigan.  Active volunteer for the HSLC’s annual dinner dance and former capital campaign major gifts volunteer.  Currently serves on the public relations and special events subcommittee of the board. 

David L. Shelp
Elected to the Board in June of 2003, and serving as the Treasurer of the HSLC since June 2003. He has been a resident of Livingston County since the since the summer of 1987.  Formerly President and CEO of Franklin Bank and Franklin Bancorp headquartered in Southfield Michigan. Married to Ruth Shelp.

Ruth Shelp
Board member since 1999.  Volunteer and former board member since 1989.  Chair of our volunteer recruitment efforts and member of our Animal Care Committee.  Former foster parent for our cats.  Married to Dave Shelp. 

 

Dr. Lisa Lembke DVM

Board member since 2006.  Former veterinarian with the Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor.  Currently in private practice as owner of Green Oak Veterinary Clinic.

 

Jessica Mathews

Board member since 2006.  Afternoon/Evening News Reporter-Anchor at WHMI radio station in Howell Michigan.  Attended Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts.

 

Carol Czekaj, CFTA

Board member since 2006.   Vice President, 1st Trust and Investments at First National Bank of Howell, Michigan.

 

Jay Fitzsimons

Elected to the Board in 2007 and volunteer since 1993. Jay is a former Powertrain Engineering Manager at Chrysler LLC headquartered in Auburn Hills, Mi. He earned Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University. Former member of Oak Point Homeowners Association Board of Directors.

 

Mark MacArthur

Elected to the Board in 2007.  Mark is a Financial Advisor and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor at Fidelity Investments.  He holds a B.A. from Michigan State University and a Master of Science from Lawrence Technological University.  Mark lives in Brighton with his wife Erika and son Christopher.
