Volunteers help us in all dimensions
at the HSLC including:
- Animal care and
socialization
- Dog walking and obedience
- Cleaning
- Planning and managing events
- Hosting tours and speaking to
community groups
- Posting animals available for
adoption on Petfinder
- Designing and maintaining the
HSLC website
- Veterinary technician roles
- Systems administration
- Graphic design
- Foster homes
We invite adult, junior (14-18 years
old), and family volunteers (families with children
between the ages of 8-14) to participate. Involving
children in our programs is especially important because
we believe it is at this age that philanthropic
involvement can extend into adulthood.
The Humane Society of Livingston
County encourages the participation of volunteers who
support the following mission: “To assist our
communities by providing pet adoption services, lost and
found assistance, and education on the humane treatment,
responsible pet ownership, and overpopulation of companion
animals”.
Why Volunteer?
- Make a difference in the
lives of homeless pets
- Develop new skills while
exploring the field of animal welfare
- Meet new people with similar
interests
- Acquire experience for future
endeavors
Most importantly,
volunteering will make life brighter for the pets in our
care, and better for the people and animals in our
community.
